The global issues that occupy the news headlines and the world’s minds require a well-trained workforce capable of understanding international trends, negotiating complex relationships, and collaborating on policy formation. International affairs majors have an endless array of career paths, from government to nonprofit organizations, private business and multilateral institutions like the United Nations.
As a global affairs major, you’ll learn about these issues through real-world examples, simulations like Model United Nations, and courses that push you to think across cultures and disciplines. You’ll also develop valuable skills employers across industries are looking for, such as critical thinking and effective communication.
You’ll get to apply your academic training to a real-world problem during a capstone project, where you’ll work in small groups on a policy task force, and present your findings to an external partner. These projects give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a way that makes an impact, and build your resume.
Throughout your bachelor’s degree in global affairs, you’ll have the option to take a minor in a range of areas, including History, Political Science, or Humanities. At the graduate level, you’ll be able to focus your master’s degree in areas such as international public policy or international business.
